Hiking & Strolls
Cortina d’Ampezzo is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and the numerous outdoor activities it offers, including walking and hiking. The walks in Cortina vary in difficulty levels, so there is something suitable for everyone, from beginners to experienced hikers.
You can choose a leisurely stroll along scenic trails that offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, or take on more challenging hikes that will lead you to discover alpine lakes, mountain huts, and panoramic peaks. The trails for hiking in Cortina and spending days outdoors immersed in unspoiled nature are truly numerous, spanning over 400 km.
Along the way, you can stop at the numerous high-altitude huts to savor the most typical mountain flavors, enjoying locally sourced products. To reach the starting points of many trails, you can use the ski lifts that are open during the summer. By purchasing the Super Summer Card, you can access all the lifts in Cortina with a single pass.
Many routes are located within the Dolomiti d’Ampezzo Natural Park, an area of 11,200 hectares that allows you to admire a wide variety of landscapes with significant natural interest and highly biodiverse habitats, among the richest and most intact in the Dolomites.
But the Dolomites are also rich in history. During the First World War, the mountains were the site of battles between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops, and today, various paths allow you to visit the remains of trenches, fortifications, and shelters built during that conflict.
